This article is about a girl that kept getting suspended because she went to school with a nose piercing. Ariana Lacono is upset of the actions that the school is doing about this incident. Her mom also thinks that this dumb because its is their religion so Ariana has the right to have her nose piercing because it is a part of her religion. The school is not giving her right to freedom of religion because they think it is not a "real" religion.
I think that what the school is doing to Ariana Lacono is wrong. She shouldn't get suspended just because she has a nose piercing. This violates her first amendment. She has the Freedom of Religion, and her religion accepts her nose piercing. Sally Gordon says "One of the remarkable things about religious freedom is that people have all kinds of believes that look to others as bizarre but make internal sense to them." Because the Church of Body Modification is not "known" in the rural areas of North Carolina; the school doesn't take Arianas religious believes seriously.
